The meaning of gold jewelry has changed a bit over time. While in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance the noble accessory was exclusively reserved for the nobility and the rich, today it is available to everyone at affordable prices in a wide variety of designs.

In addition, the precious metal is said to have a special spiritual effect. A gold ring on the finger is said to attract divine consciousness and radiate divine energy. Differences in gold jewelry

The carat, which you can find on your piece of jewelry as a small stamped number - for example 375 or 585 - plays a decisive role here. The decisive factor here is the gold alloy, i.e. the mixture of gold with other metals such as silver, copper or palladium. The alloy gives the rather soft gold a certain hardness. As a result, there is no such thing as a 100% gold piece of jewelry, as it would become too soft and you could not process and wear it that way. 375 yellow gold, for example, has a gold content of 37.5%. The higher the percentage of gold, the more expensive and noble the material will be.
